Kerberos Issue Tracker
Luke Hebert
- One minute read - 190 wordsIf you are troubleshooting a Kerberos authentication failure or tracking down a known bug in the MIT Kerberos stack, the project issue tracker is the first place to look. MIT Kerberos is the reference implementation of the Kerberos V5 protocol and underpins single sign-on in many enterprise environments, including Active Directory deployments.
The tracker is a Request Tracker (RT) instance hosted by MIT. It covers:
- Bug reports for the
krb5library,kadmin,kinit,klist, and related tools. - Security advisories and CVE tracking for vulnerabilities in the protocol implementation.
- Feature requests and enhancement proposals from the community.
- Patch status so you can see whether a fix has been merged into a release branch.
When you hit an authentication error, a ticket-granting-ticket issue, or a cross-realm problem, searching the tracker before opening a support ticket often saves hours. You can filter by component, severity, and status to narrow results quickly.
The tracker reflects the MIT Kerberos codebase specifically. If you are running a vendor fork (for example, the Windows Kerberos implementation or a distribution-specific patch set), a bug listed here may not apply to your environment.
